Bloomfield C&AC emerged Sri Lanka Cricket Major League champions by virtue of first innings points over NCC in the final which ended in a no decision at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
However, Bloomfield might well regret having not made a match of it for an outright win in having consumed over two days of play in stretching their first innings score over 500 runs.
NCC, commencing it’s first innings by the third day of the four day final, totalled 312 with the game stalemating towards an eventual draw.
In that scenario, the contest so drifted with Bloomfield going on to consume the final day scoring 242 for the loss of four wickets with Asitha Wanninayake going one better on his first innings 96 to crossing the elusive three figure mark scoring 104 off 242 balls hitting 12 boundaries. Skipper Nipun Karunanayake was equal to the task making 75 off 120 balls inclusive of 6 boundaries and 2 sixes.
NCCs Chamika Karunaratne claimed 2 wickets for 18 and Ashian Daniel 2 for 42.
