Skipper Charith Asalanka’s powerful century 151 off 206 balls powered by 17 boundaries and 2 sixes was the high stuff to Colombo’s first innings 422 with Galle going on to end the game on a drawn note scoring 118 for 3 in the wake of their first innings 435 on the final day of their Sri Lanka Cricket National Super League fixture yesterday at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
Asalanka, who was on an overnight 142, added nine runs into the final day falling to Du ith Wellalage who had him caught by Dinesh Chandimal, but Pramod Madushan stood firm with a solid 45 off 72 hitting 2 boundaries and a six with Nishan Peiris in a 25-run support role off 53 balls striking 2 boundaries.
Galle’s second innings was highlighted by Nipun Dhananjaya’s unbeaten 73 off 113 filled with 9 boundaries in sharing in an unfinished 74-run fourth wicket bonding together with Santhush Gunathilake 28 off 68 with a six and boundary apiece.
