Jaffna took their overnight 200 for 2 to 418 with opening batsman Ravindu Rasantha, who was unbeaten on 100, going on to add a further 20 runs while Angelo Mathews added just one run to his overnight 63, but powerful knocks by the twosome of skipper Janith Liyanage 79 off 102 studded with 8 fours and 2 over the top, Niroshan Dickwella 70 off 64 with 7 to the ropes and 2 over cashed in with a 126 fifth wicket assault on the second day of their National Super League Tournament fixture at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Dambulla were on 54 for the loss of Ron Chandraguptha’s wicket leg before wicket to Nimesh Vimukthi for 28 with Nishan Madushka on 23 and Dinura Kalupahan on 8.
Dambulla’s chief wicket takers were Dulaj Samuditha 3 for 88 and Akila Dananjaya as well 3 but at some cost – 164 runs.
