In a defining line of a tussle of the bats, SSC emerged champions of the SLC Major Clubs Tier B Limited Overs Tournament 2025 defeating Moratuwa Sports Club by 4 wickets in a thrilling final at their home groundsg last week.

Moratuwa SC’s Poorna Prabath struck a cameo 92 off 80 balls hitting 6 sixes and 8 boundaries in lifting his side from 106 for 8 as Moratuwa posted a compatible 231 despite the wily left-arm spin wizard Prabath Jayasuriya’s 4 wickets for 15 runs.

However, middle order No 6 Nipun Dhananjaya, someone who has been long cast into the sidelines from national recognition. once again produced a workmanlike innings of character in stroking an unbeaten 73 off 104 balls powered by 8 boundaries to taking SSC to the championship title.

Adding to the run chase were Avishka Fernando (38) and Charith Asalanka (37) as SSC won in 40.4 overs.
