ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 – Trophy Tour Arrives in Sri Lanka

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Trophy Tour reached Sri Lanka today, with the iconic trophy unveiled to the media at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS), Colombo.

The venue will host 11 league-stage matches during the tournament.

Sri Lanka Women’s Captain Chamari Athapaththu, Men’s Test Captain Dhananjaya De Silva, former Men’s Captain Dinesh Chandimal, National Fast Bowler Vishwa Fernando and Women’s team stars Harshitha Samarawickrama and Nilakshika De Silva joined the reveal.

Adding to the occasion were Blaze and Tonk, the official mascots of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

The Trophy Tour’s Sri Lanka segment will run until 25th September with several activities planned:

  • 23rd September – At CCC Ground, Colombo, young cricketers from four girls’ schools in Colombo will take part in friendly softball games, alongside players of the national women’s team.
  • 24th September – The trophy will be placed on public display at the Lotus Tower, Colombo, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with players from both the national men’s and women’s teams joining the event.
  • 25th September – The trophy will be displayed at a girls’ school in Colombo, giving schoolchildren the chance to be part of the World Cup experience.

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 begins on 30th September, with Sri Lanka facing India in the opening game at Guwahati.

The first game of the tournament in Sri Lanka will be played on 2nd October at RPICS, Colombo, when Bangladesh meets Pakistan.
