Maliban helping build women’s cricket a sport we love – Maliban Group CEO, Ravi Jayawardena

Maliban, Sri Lanka’s famous ages long biscuit confectionary, officially tied up with Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday as official sponsor of the Sri Lanka U19 Women’s Cricket Team for the Australia Women’s U19 tour of Sri Lanka.
At yesterday’s media launch to announce the momentous occasion, Upul Nawaratne Bandara, Head of Marketing, Sri Lanka Cricket, delivering the keynote address, said, “Extremely happy to welcome Maliban onboard for this all-important series which is going to give a lot of exposure for our young cricketers, and I am sure the firm will earn the best value out of this partnership as women’s cricket is gaining popularity, not only in Sri Lanka nbut internationally.”
This latest initiative is an impetus to Maliban’s growing sporting legacy as an entity that has consistently invested in the development of young, high potential athletes.
Ravi Jayawardena, Group CEO of Maliban Group of Companies speaking on the occasion said, “At Maliban, we have always believed that true progress lies in nurturing the next generation. By stepping forward as the team sponsor of the Sri Lanka U19 Women’s Cricket Team we are not only supporting a sport we all love, but also helping to build the future of women’s cricket on our country. The young athletes represent courage, passion and possibility and it is our privilege to stand beside them as they chase their dreams.”
Milinda Weerasinghe, Maliban’s Group Head of Marketing and Pasitha Perera, Maliban Group Head, of Corporate Communications stressed the fact that Maliban made it a point to identify and assist less known quarters which was one reason they were backing female cricketers from the schools at the U19 level taking into consideration they were seeking to make a mark internationally.
“We make it a point to raise our hands for the lesser known,” they echoed of this cut out feature by Maliban.
