Colombo South emerged champions of the Sri Lanka Cricket-Prima Under-15 Tournament when they defeated Kandy by a comprehensive 80 runs having posted 197 off 50 overs having taken first lease on the toss, and dismissed their opponents for 117 in 42 overs in the finals yesterday at the Mercantile Cricket Grounds.
Colombo South’s top scorer was opener Miyuru Bandara who made 41 off 75 balls inclusive of two sixes and like number of boundaries followed by Chenuka Mitshara’s 37 and Ranuda Ranasinghe 33.
Kandy’s Thibulaka Rajakapaksa mainly claimed 3 wickets for 40 runs .
Kandy lost their way losing five early wickets in 15 overs with lower order number six Shashith Bandara the only resistance carrying his bat to the end in a lost cause back to the wall 41 off 66 balls striking three boundaries and a six.
Colombo South’s match winners with the ball were the 2 wickets apiece Denuwan Sathish and Lithum Devasurendra.
