NCC was in a strong first innings 387 grip over Badureliya SC reduced to 125 for 7 following a brilliant 121 by Chamika Karunaratne who displayed his all-round prowess in no uncertain terms in putting his side in a winning gateway at stumps on the second day’s play at Sooriyawewa’s Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
In that downsising, Badureliya’s Adeesha Thilanchana did have the personal 5 wicket satisfaction conceding 105 runs.
Meanwhile, Kurunegala Youth CC fine edged on a mammoth 404 on Gayan Maneeshan’s stand out 160 and Sameera Sandamal’s 106 enforced the follow on on Tamil Union bundled out for 167 and 53 for 2 driven by Kasun Ekanayake’s 4 for 57 first innings demolition at the NCC Grounds.
The game between the more formidable CCC and a down and out Chilaw Marians CC which has lost its once strong shine, was a cliff hanger neck to neck first innings exchanges with the Mariana, batting first totaling 185 and its bowlers on song dismissing CCC for 162 spearheaded by Thikshila de Silva’s 4 for 68 haul and Melan Hansaka 3 for 18 at the Colts Grounds yesterday.
The Mariana 155 for 8 in their second innings and leading by 173 runs at stumps which left the game interestingly poised on the final day
