Opening batsman, the inform Viran Chamuditha struck an eventful century in raising Sri Lanka’s semi final hopes in seeing off an ominous South Africa by 5 wickets after Van Schalkawyk had set up the Proteas by a 130 ball 116 in a score of 261 for 7 in a U19 World Cup super six decisive game at the Queens Sports Club Grounds in Bulawayo yesterday.
Chamuditha reeled off 110 off 94 balls hitting 13 boundaries and a six taking strike right up the order to dousing South Africa’s challenge as Sri Lanka finished it off on a score of 265 for 5. He followed his century previously in displaying cracking form with the bat.
Sri Lanka’s semi final hopes will largely depend on Ireland beating Afghanistan.
