Baduraliya SC came close to defeating Chilaw Marians CC yesterday scoring 111 for no loss chasing a target of 161 runs with Roshan Wijenayake on 57 and Dilshan de Soysa, in cracking form following his first innings century on 53 leading the run charge at the Kurunegala’s Welagedera Stadium to go with his unbeaten 145 the previous week in the Sri Lanka Cricket Major League Plate Tournament.

The game also saw schoolboy 300-run record holder Sammu Ashan who lashed a phantom knock of 352 off 123 for Ananda College Colombo in 2013, produce the form rhythm he is reputed for in topping a century in the Marians first innings to go with a superb century the previous week.
