SL Women young brigade show pluck as Australia Women win second ODI

The Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team produced an improved performance with its young brigade coming to the fore though going down by 110 runs to their Australian counterparts in the second ODI at the Allan Border Field, Brisbane yesterday. It gave Australia Women a 2-nil lead in the 3-match series.

Young Harshitha Madavi, a recent product discovered from Anula Vidyalaya, displayed admirable pluck striking a top score of 39 off 61 balls inclusive of 4 boundaries and shared in a 70-run alliance for the second wicket with Anushka Sanjeewani who made 36 off 69 balls with a boundary.

Sri Lanka was all out for 172 in their 50 overs in reply to Australia’s imposing 282 for 8 spearheaded by Rachael Haynes 118.
