SLC SUPER PROVINCIAL WOMEN’S T20 SUPER TOURNAMENT 2019
Twenty-one year old Harshitha Madavi Samarawickrema stole the limelight yesterday in the Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) Super Provincial Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament 2019 leading Team Kandy to an emphatic 13-run win over Team Dambulla on the DLS in a rain affected match with a superb unbeaten 49-ball unbeaten 66.
Team Dambulla made 120 for 4 wickets in 17 overs to win on a faster run rate in reply to Team Kandy’s 132 for 4 in 20 overs.
Madavi, who has proved to be Sri Lanka’s young find following some international performances including leading the Sri Lanka Womens Emerging Team to be runners-up to India at the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2019, batted with ease displaying her flair as a potential batswoman for the future as she put the Team Dambulla bowling attack to the sword.
She found good support from Sathya Sandeepani who made 23.
Team Dambulla did well to post a formidable 132 for 4 wickets in 20 overs, but Team Kandy’s Harshitha Madavi had other ideas in bettering that performance.
Tam Dambulla’s Hansima Karunarathne made 42 and Prasadini Weerakkodi was equal to the task scoring 41. Veteran Shashikala Siriwardana propped up the total making 27.
Meanwhile, the match between Team Colombo and Team Galle was a non starter due to inclement weather and ended in a no-result.
