Sri Lanka Women romp to finals beating Nepal Women

Sri Lanka Cricket

AT SAF GAMES TOURNAMENT

The Sri Lanka Women’s Team swept into the finals of the SAF Games Cricket Tournament when they beat hosts Nepal by 41 runs  in their last group match yesterday at Pokhara Rangasala, Pokhara, Nepal.

It was on a superb all-round performance the Sri Lanka Women rounded off their campaign to reach the finals with their bowlers significantly delivering when it mattered in defending a total of 118 for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Spot on with the ball was Sachinini Nisansala who reaped 3 wickets for 16 and Sathya Sandeepani 2 for 5 as the Nepal batswomen had no clues to the guile of the Sri Lanka Women’s bowling attack which was well backed by the fielders.

Sri Lanka’s innings after opting to bat revolved around a top score of 37 off 27 balls by Lihini Apsara following a run-a-ball 35 by opener Janadi Anali in ensuring their side made a respectable total against the tidy spin attack of the Nepal Women. Skipper Harshitha Madavi made 16.

Sri Lanka collected 4 points to finish second to Bangladesh who led the group with 6 points having won all their 3 matches as against the Lankan Women’s 2 wins while Nepal was third with 2 points from a solitary win.
