Sri Lanka T20 captain Dasun Shanaka, skippering SLC Greys, who struck an explosive 41-ball 84 spiced with 7 boundaries and 5 sixes, and young Kamindu Mendis (5×4, 3×6) with a cameo 48-ball 74 set the ball rolling in electrifying style to the curtain raiser of the mega Sri Lanka Cricket T20 Tournament at the Pallekelle Stadium yesterday.
As it was, Shanaka’s SLC Greys prevailed defeating SLC Greens in a thriller, the winning margin of 1 run demonstrating the sword edge to a truly absorbing contest as the Greys raced to 166 for 7 off 20 in reply to the Greens 167 for 7 off 20.
Meanwhile, SLC Blues defeated SLC Reds by 56 runs having run up 148 for 9 off 20 overs on a top score of 48 by Ashen Bandara and 36 by Sahan Arachchige.
