Dialog SLC Invitational T20 League Cricket Tournament the stage for players to win national recognition

The Dialog SLC Invitational T20 League Cricket Tournament commencing tomorrow August 12 at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy will serve as a window for players to stake a claim for national recognition. It will particularly be of importance to certain players who did not make the recent tours of Bangladeshy, England and the home tour against India. Interestingly, it will serve as the stage for Dinesh Chandimal who skippers Team C to impress with the bat in his comeback bid. As much it will be an opportunity for discard Asela Gunaratne to come good with the bat in finding national recognition. Others tapping on the door include the hard hitting Sammu Ashan, Ishan Jayaratne who though included for the recent series was however did not get the big call up Lasith Croospulle and Chathuranga de Silva among several others. This tournament is the preparatory ground for the upcoming South Africa Tour of Sri Lanka followed by the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in October this year.

The National Skipper Dasun Shanaka, Vice-Captain Dhananjaya de Silva, Dinesh Chandimal and Ashan Priyanjan were appointed captains of their respective teams for the SLC Invitational T20 League Cricket Tournament, which begins on August 12 at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy. Meanwhile, the following players have been shifted from the original selections:  Himasha Liyanage from Team Blues to Greys, Kamil Mishara from Team Greens to Greys and Prabath Jayasuriya from Team Greys to Reds.

The following players did not pass the fitness test and will be resultantly not among the starting line up: Sadun Weerakkody, Jehan Daniel, Sangeeth Cooray, Koshan Jayawickrama, Lahiru Gamage, Ashan Randika and Lasith Embuldeniya. 

The tournament will be conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) with the participation of all National and First-Class cricketers in preparations

Each team will play six games in the initial round of the League whilst the top two teams will qualify for the final, which will be played on August 24.

SLC Blues: Nishan Madushka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dhananjaya de Silva (Captain), Angelo Perera, Ashen Bandara, Wanindu Hasaranga, Sahan Arachchige, Lahiru Samarakoon, Dananjaya Lakshan, Suranga Lakmal, Kalana Perera, Dilshan Madushanka, Shiran Fernando, Praveen Jayawickrema, Mahesh Theekshana.

SLC Greens: Lahiru Udara, Mahela Udawatta, Kamil Mishara, Pathum Nissanka, Ashan Priyanjan (Captain), Kamindu Mendis, Sammu Ashan, Ramesh Mendis, Suminda Lakshan, Ishan Jayaratne, Lahiru Kumara, Vishwa Fernando, Nuwan Thushara, Lasith Embuldeniya, Lakshan Sandakan.

SLC Reds: Avishka Fernando, Nipun Dananjaya, Kusal Janith, Dinesh Chandimal (Captain), Oshada Fernando, Asela Gunaratne, Lasith Abeyratne, Seekkuge Prasanna, Chamika Karunaratne, Binura Fernando, Mohamed Shiraz, Asitha Fernando, Himesh Ramanayake, Nimesh Vimukthi, Akila Dananjaya.

SLC Greys: Minod Bhanuka, Lasith Croospulle, Charith Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapakse, Nuwanindu Fernando, Dasun Shanaka (Captain), Chathuranga de Silva, Udith Madushan, Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Pradeep, Pulina Tharanga, Ashen Daniel, Duvindu Tillakaratne, Chamika Gunasekera.
