Skipper Chamari Athapaththu played the lead role hammering 86 off 45 balls containing 13 fours and 2 sixes as Sri Lanka Women thrashed the daylights out of Scotland Women by 109 runs in a Commonwealth Games Women’s T20 qualifying round match played at the Binrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka, batting first totalled 182 for 4 in 20 overs and shot out Scotland for 73 in 12.1 overs with Sachini Nisansala claiming 2 for 10, Darshika Prabodini 2 for 25 and Ama Kanchana 2 for 20.
This is the highest T20 score by the Lankan Women. Atapattu was involved in a 90-run partnership for the second wicket with Hashitha Madavi who made 23 off 18 balls with 4 boundaries. Other contributors were Nilakshi Silva with an unbeaten 23 off 16 with 2 boundaries and Hasini Perera 17.
Ellen Watson was the only Scotts batswoman to make a notable score of 30.
