Harshitha Madavi n.o. 65, Nilakshi de Silva n.o. 49 as SL Women thump Malaysian Women by 93 runs

Vice Captain Harshitha Madavi struck an unbeaten 72-ball 65 studded with 10 boundaries in Sri Lanka’s 93-run win over host country Malaysia in their Commonwealth Games Women’s T20 qualifying round match at the Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday. Sri Lanka, put into bat, rattled up 175 for 3 off 20 overs and reduced Malaysia to 82 for 7 in 20.

Madavi featured in an unbeaten 87-run fourth wicket partnership with Nilakshi de Silva who made 49 off 31 balls hitting 7 boundaries. Skipper Chamari Atapattu weighed in with a boundary filled quickfire 30 off 17 balls with 7 scorchers tn the ropes.

It was the Lankan lasses third consecutive with their final fixture against Bangladesh tomorrow (24). Only skipper Winifred Duraisingh offered resistance against the tight Lankan attack scoring 42 off 54 with 4 fours.

The main Lankan wicket takers were Sugandika Kumari and Oshadi Ranasinghe with 2 for 12 and 2 for 14 respectively.
