Greys stun Greens by 81 runs – Thanuka Dabare player of the Match 66

The less fancied Team Greys, the underdogs in the four cornered SLC SSkyExch Invitational T20 League 2022, inflicted a crushing 81-ru n win over the star studded Team Greens at the R. Premadasa International Stadium yesterday. Greys, comprising of rookies who have performed at domestic level powered its way steered by a superb Player of the Match performance by opening batsman Thanuka Dabare who struck a cameo 66 off 40 balls in a total of 166 for 7 off 20 overs. The Greens, skippered by Sri Lanka T20 captain Dasun Shanaka, folded up for 85 with the skipper sent back for a fourth ball duck by Pulina Tharanga.

Dabare hammered 8 boundaries and 2 sixes in setting it up for the Greys whose Kasun Vidura kept up the tempo hitting 4 boundaries and a six in a 31-ball 36. Minod Bhanuka chipped in with a run a ball 20 hoisting one over the ropes to good effect. (PARA 3) The strong Greens boasting of several Sri Lanka players was at sea with the other top rung batsmen – Pathum Nissanka (15), Niroshan Dickwella (27) and Dinesh Chandimal (24) crumbling to the three-pronged Greys attack of Pulina Tharanga 3 for 12, Muditha Lakshan 3 for 17 and skipper Ashan Priyanjan who made up for his failure with the bat taking 2 for 11.
