CCC’s Kaushani Nuthyangana 62 and SSC’s Erosha Shyamali 34 excel; Other winners Chilaw Marians, Panadura, Colts, Army SC and Air Force S.C.

Kaushani Nuthyangana struck a forceful 62 off 55 balls as CCC pulled off a comprehensive 148-run win over NCC in yesterday’s Sri Lanka Cricket Women’s Invitational Tournament. Meanwhile, Erosha Shyamali led from the front scoring a superb captain’s innings of 34 off 47 balls inclusive of 6 boundaries as SSC won a tense contest against BRC by 3 wickets reaching 119 for 7 10.3 overs in overhauling their opponents 118 off 35 overs.

The other victorious teams were CCC, Chilaw Marians, Panadura, Colts, Army SC and Air Force S.C.

Panadura defeated Tamil Union by 12 runs on the D/L reaching 93 for 5 off 22 overs after their opponents made 124 off 22 overs in a rain marred game.

Chilaw Marians defeated Ace Capital by 9 wickets scoring 56 for 1 wicket in 4.3 overs on a top score of an unbeaten 35 by Malsha Madushani to cap a fine all-round performance having claimed 3 Ace Capital wickets for 7 runs. Manudi Nanayakkara was unbeaten on 14. Ace Capital was allout for 54 in 29.2 overs with Saduni Nisansala returning fine figures of 4 for 6..

Army beat Kurunegala by 8 wickets scoring 34 for 2 wickets off 7.4 overs having dismissed their opponents for 33 off 22 overs on fine figures of 4 for 10 by Randeep Premaratne and 2 for 3 by Saduni de Silva.

Imalka Mandis top scored for Army with an unbeaten 15 while T. Senaratne made 8.

Air Force beat Badureliya by 7 wickets scoring 45 for 3 off 5.2 overs having bowled out their opponents 44 off 30.4 overs. Malsha Shaboni top scored for the winners with 22 with Malki Madara making 10. Nilusha Fernando took 3 for 19 for Badureliya. Shyama Ranasinghe made 11 for Badureliya who were dismantled by Tharuka Shaboni who took 5 wickets for 3 runs well supported by Nilusha Fernando 3 for 19 well and Ama Kanchana 2 for 7.

Meanwhile, Colts CC got the better of Galle CC by 2 wickets having scored 78 off 19.4 overs and restricted their opponents to 76 for 9 off 20 overs. Colts top scorer was Hasara Wijeratne with 28 with other contributions from Udeni Kuruppuarachchi 12, Udayangani Silva 12. Rashmi Nethranjali 2 for 8, Vihara de Silva 2 for 10 and Hirunika Nivarathani 2 for 23 were among the wickets for the winners.
