SL Navy Women rout Ac Capital Women by 340 runs powered by Sathya Sandeepani 156 & 3/15, and Hansma Karunaratna 118

SLC WOMEN’S INVITATIONAL MAJOR CLUB TOURNAMENT 2023

A rollicking unbeaten 156 by Sathya Sandeepani off 140 balls inclusive of 17 boundaries and a six and 118 by Hansma Karunaratna off 89 balls who retired hurt having hit 15 boundaries and 3 sixes was the highlight of Sri Lanka Navy SC Women’s resounding 340-run win over Ace Capital CC Women in their SLC Women’s Invitational Major Club Tournament 2023 fixture played at the Navy Grounds on Tuesday. SL Navy SC Women batting first amassed 372 for 5 wickets in 50 oversand bundled out Ace Capital CC Women for a paltry 32 in 20.4 overs. The pair were involved in a 217-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

None of the Ace Capital batters reached double figures with Inoka Ranaweera grabbing 5 wickets for 15 and Sathya Sandeepani 3 for 15 in capping a superb all-round performance.

Meanwhile, Panadura Sports Club Women’s skipper Piumi Wathsala led from the front with a classy unbeaten 119 off 102 balls hitting 12 boundaries in registered a huge 270-run win over Burgher Recreation Club having rattled up 292 for 4 in the allotted 50 overs and decimating their opponents to 22 for 9 in 19.1 overs at the BRC Grounds in Monday’s exchanges. Ten extras were the highest score for BRC with none of its batters reaching double figures against Panadura’s opening attack of Rashmika Sewwandi who claimed 6 for 6 and Chathana Vimukthi 3 for 16 as the last batter Devindi Kulathunga retired hurt without scoring.

Panadura’s other run getters were opener Navodya Fernando 49 off 66 with 4 boundaries, Erandi Hansamali 46 off 56 with 5 boundaries and wicket-keeper batter Amadhi Kaveendaya 45 off 61 with 7 boundaries. BRC’s wicket takers were Duminsha Randishani 1 for 27, Devindi Kulathunga 1 for 28 and Devini Fernando 1 for 66.

ARMY IN 10-WKT. WIN OVER SSC

In another one-sided affair Sri Lanka Army SC Women made light of Singhalese Sports Club Women winning by 10 wickets in a game that was over as quickly as it started having shot out their opponents for 26 in 19.1 overs and breezing to 27 in only 4.5 overs with Anushka Sanjeewani on 13 off 18 and Nilakshi De Silva a run a ball 12 with a boundary.at the Air Force Grounds Katunayake on Monday.

A feature was eight SSC batters being dismissed for ducks with SugaSugandika Kumari and Sadani D. De Silva claiminh 3 for no runs and 3 runs respectively, and Nimesha Madushani 2 for 0.

Only SSC skipper opening batswoman Iresha Shyamali reached double figures scoring 12.

BADURELIYA BY 6 WKTS. OVER K’GALA

Badureliya CC Women defeated Kurunegala YCC Women by 6 wickets scoring 49 for 4 off 10 overs having dismissed their opponents for 48 off 23 overs at the Welagedera Stadium, Kurunegala. Only Ashani Kawshalya 11 reached double figures with Sugandika Pathirana reaping 6 wickets for 5 runs and Janadi Anali 4 for 16.

Badureliya’s openers Shyama Ranasinghe made 15 off 18 with 2 boundaries and Lihini Hapuarachchi 11 off 17 with a boundary.

Kurunegala’s Danuli Thennakoon took 3 for 5 and Kavishka Abeyrathne 1 for 19.

COLTS DEFEAT CCC B& 7 WKTS.

Colts CC Women defeated Colombo Cricket Club by 7 wickets at their home grounds scoring 91 for 3 off 16 overs in overhaling their opponents 89 off    overs. Colts top scorer was Udeni Kuruppuarachchi 33 off 39 inclusive of 4 boundaries with a next best unbeaten 29 off 12 balls by skipper Udayangani De Silva inclusive of 6 boundaries and Hasara Wijayaratne 14 off 31 with a solitary boundary.

CCC’s Vidushika Perera took 1 for 15 and Hashini Liyanage 1 for 17.

CCC’s total revolved around Ushani Wickramarachchi’s 21 by off 85 balls, aShikari De Silva 15 off 38 with a boundary and Kaushini Nuthyanga 13 off 27 with a boundary.

Colts Nethmi Sanjana, Madhara Samarakoon and Chamari Lakshani delivered with the ball claiming 2 for 10, 2 for 14 and 2 for 24 respectively.

SL AIR FORCE BEAT TAMIL UNION BY 8 WKTS

Sri Lanka Air Force Women defeated their Tamil Union counterparts by 8 wickets reaching 77 for 2 off 23 overs in overhauling their opponents 76 off 40.4 overs anchored by Chamari Polgampola 29 off 70 with 2 boundaries and skipper Oshadi Ranasinghe unbeaten on 25 off 45 with 3 boundaries at the P. Saravanamuththu International Stadium. Sanduni Abeywickrama made 9.

Tamil Union’s Niluka Karunarathna took 2 for 19. Their mainstay with the bat was Dilshani Kuarasiri 26 off 78 with 3 boundaries while Dinesha Jayasinghe 12 off 32 was the only other batter to reach double figures.

Wicket takers for the winners were Oshadi Ranasinghe 4 for 11 followed by Tharuki Shehani 2 for 9 with Tharushi Thathsarani, Malka Madara, Ama Kanchana and Malsha Shehani claiming a wicket each respectively.
