Australia defeats England by 2 wickets in superb chase

WOMEN’S U19 TRI NATIONS TOURNEY

Australia U19 Women gamely chased down a target of 240 runs propelled by half centuries by  Kate Pelle 56 and Eleanor Larosa 52 in defeating England Under 19 Women by two wickets with 4.3 overs to spare in a Women’s Under19 Tri-Nation Tournament fixture played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium yesterday. It marked back to back wins by the Australian lasses.

England’s 239 off 48 overs revolved around a top score of 57 by Katie Jones followed by next best identical scores of 33 by Mary Taylor and Jodi Grewcock.

Eleanor Larosa bagged 3 wickets for 31 to cap a fine all-round performance to take the Player of the Match award.
