Vishmi Gunaratne 73 n.o. guides Sri Lanka Women to victory over Uganda Women

Opener Vishmi Gunaratne struck an unbeaten 73 in 64 balls as Sri Lanka topped their third successive win beating Uganda by 67 runs in their ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifying T20 game at Abu Dhabi yesterday.

The Lankan lasses had things easy against little known Uganda with Skipper Chamari Athapaththu posing 50 for the first wicket Vishmi Gunaratne after taking first lease on winning the toss. added a solid platform with 50 runs in 7.4 overs. Athapaththu made 24.

Uganda Women came a cropper against the concentrated Lankan bowling attack crashing to 59 for 6 wickets after 14.5 overs and being dismissed for 87 with the trio of Inoka Ranaweera, Shashini Gimhani, and Kavisha Dilhari claiming two wickets each.

Sri Lanka, who lead Group A with 3 wins,  will take on the USA in their next fixture tomorrow at the Tolerance Oval grounds. Sri Lanka already tops Group ‘A’ with 3 wins in collecting 6 points with Scotland second with 4 points while Ireland leads Group ‘B’ followed by the Netherlands in second place.
