Devapathiraja MV’s 17-year old national player, Hiruni Hansika claimed Player of the Final 4 wickets for 12 runs in bowling Galle to a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Kandy in the Sri Lanka Youth League Girl’s Cricket U-19 final yesterday at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota in the inaugural tournament. 

The four-cornered tournament was competed by Galle, Kandy, Colombo and Dambulla.

Having bundled out Kandy for 87 runs, Galle rode to the U-19 title with ease reaching 88 off just 11.5 overs with Hiruni Hansika striking an unbeaten 41off 37 balls inclusive of 6 boundaries, and Sanjana Kavindi 27 off 35 with 2 fours to winning with 8.1 overs to spare.

Chamodi Munasinghe too was outstanding for Galle claiming 3 wickets for 16.

Kandy’s Nirasha Gimhani remained unbeaten on 14 while Vimoksha Balasooriya and Mithali Ayodya scored 12 each.

Rasanjali de Alwis SLC women’s cricket coordinator and women’s selection committee member was the chief guest and gave away the awards.
