India registered a comprehensive 82-run win over Sri Lanka o stay on course to the finals of the T20 world Cup in ending the Lankansworld cup campaign yesterday at the Dubai International Stadium.
Batting first India ran up 172 for 3 in the aloted 20 overs on hald centuries by skipper Harmanpreet;s unbeaten 52 cameo off 27 balls ridden by 8 boundaries and a six and Smriti Mandhna 50 off 38 with 4 boundaries and a six to bowling out the Sri Lankans for 90 in 19.5 overs.
Sri Lanka’s skipper Chamari Athapaththu failed to produce the glowing form that had led to a crestwave of recent successes including the thrashing of defending Aia Cuo champions o laying hands on the Asia Cup earlier this year.
Yesterday the Indians reversed fortunes by a clinical display with Sri Lanka’s run chase seeing only Kavisha Dilhari and Anushka Sanjeevani getting into the 20s.
