WOMEN’S WORLD CUP

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match between Sri Lanka and defending champions Australia was rain abandoned on Saturday without a ball being bowled at Colombo’s R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
Consequently, both teams shared one point each.
Incessant rain throughout kept the players indoors with hopes of play getting underway dashed with the covers of the immediate playing area under covers.
By 5.35 the umpires decided to call of the match with no signs of the pelting rain receding.
The point each by the no result left Australia leading the points table with 3 points having won their opening game against New Zealand while Sri Lanka with the shared point following the loss to India, was in fifth place behind England, Bangladesh and India in that order respectively.
