Team Green struck gold to crowning themselves champions of the Women’s National Super League T20 Cricket Tournament by a clear 6 wicket win over Team Blues despite the presence of Sri Lanka Women’s captain Chamari Athapaththu in negating her 51 run contribution in the final played at the P. Saravanamuththu International Cricket Stadium.

The rest of the Team Blues batters were a big let down as Chamari Athapaththu’s half century came to naught in a sorry 95 run decimation.

Team Green was propelled to victory by the twosome of Nilakshi Silva, an experienced national team campaigner who batted through to the target by an unbeaten 36 off 31 balls inclusive of four boundaries and a six and Oshadi Ranasinghe’s all-round 4 for 17 superb bowling act and unbeaten 16 in overcoming a top order loss of three wickets for 40 runs as Team Blues won with 11 balls to spare. They shared in an unfinished 37 partnership.

Team Blues 95 all out (18.1) (Chamari Athapaththu 51, Sandali Weerasinghe 16; Oshadi Ranasinghe 4/17)

Team Green 98 for 4 (18.1) (Nilakshika Silva 36n.o., Oshadi Ranasinghe 16n.o.)
