Vishmi Gunaratne’s half-century was the mainstay of Sri Lanka’s innings that saw several useful top-order partnerships taking them to 166 for 4 in the 36th over before the last six wickets fell for 42 as Karishma Ramharack picked 3 wickets for 26 for the hosts.
The game saw Deandra Dottin ruled out with both umpires conferring for obstructing the field sweeping against Chamari Athapaththu with the ball slipping down the leg side and called a wide before ballooning off the pads of wicketkeeper Kaushini Nuthyangana back towards Dottin who tapped it away with her bat and then caught the ball.
It led to umpires Candace la Borde and Vrinda Rathi conferring and ruling Dottin out.
West Indies were 116 for 6 at that stage as Jannillea Glasgow brought them closer to the target with her second half-century in consecutive matches, but falling short of carrying her side through.
She added 45 for the ninth wicket with Afy Fletcher, before being last out held on the rebound at cover by Kavisha Dilhari.
Sri Lanka Women’s fielding was outstanding with Hasini Perera taking a sharp catch at slip to remove Chinelle Henry and Nilakshika Silva taking a brilliant catch at long-off from Shawnisha Hector’s lofted drive to seal victory.
Sri Lanka 208 (Gunaratne 58, Ramharack 3-26) beat West Indies 194 (Glasgow 50, Ranaweera 3-44, Kumari 3-38) by 14 runs.
