Sri Lanka Women reigned in with a historic 2-1 ODI series win over their Bangladesh counterparts in their own backyard following a comprehensive 7 wicket annihilation with 21 balls to spare.
The triumph was more the significant for the Lankans having come from behind after losing the curtain raiser.
The Bangladeshi lasses did put up a compatible total of 213 for 8 wickets, but the Lankans made it to look like a stroll in the park handsomeness with opening batter Hasini Perera taking on the center piece key Player of the Match role hammering 95 in negating the early loss of their talisman skipper Chamari Athapaththu.
Hasini Perera, who struck 13 boundaries, found an able ally in Imesha Dulani who struck a stroke filled half century with the second wicket partnership realising 108 runs.
When Imesha fell having hit 7 boundaries, No 4 Harshitha Samarawickrama joined Hasini in a 78-run bonding, but it was left to Samarawickrama, who went on to make 44 to finish it for Sri Lanka together with Hansi Karunaratne after Perera fell 9 runs away from victory. Imesha Dulani proved to be a decisive find on the tour emerging Player of the Series having compensated for the injury laid off Vishmi Gunaratne.
Sobhana Mostary was Bangladesh’s sole run maker by a battling 74. The two teams will begin a three-match T20I Series on Tuesday in Sylhet.
